After reading and sharing with Melissa’s blog, yesterday (Sunday) I had prepared this dish. I never tried this dish actually, so, it quite fun for me to try it out! emoticonMe and Basri went to super market to get the “Nam-Yee”, at first I thought it hard to get it in UK, but, surprisingly, actually “Nam-Yee” is very less selling in the market here too! Very luckily we found it among all the “Foo-Yee”. What is the different? I also don’t know what is the different between “Nam-Yee” and “Foo-Yee”. To Melissa, the “Nam-Yee” is in red color.

When I open the bottle, the smell is so good!!! I nearly want to boil porridge and eat with it!! hhahaha…

I follow the recipe from Melissa’s blog:

1. Prepare "nam yee" red sauce by sauteing some chopped garlic, shallots and ginger until fragrant. Add in 2 cubes of "nam yee", stir and bring to boil until the sauce thickens.

2. Marinate thickly sliced pork in "nam yee" red sauce, dash of pepper, corn flour and an egg for 2 hours.

3. Deep fry (best but me being the health conscious one prefers to braise or shallow fry) or braise pork until golden brown.

4. Stew all ingredients and wood ear fungus (which has been soaked) in water and bring to boil.

5. Simmer in low fire for 45 minutes or until pork is tender.

Basri love the dish, but, personally I think yesterday the dish is a bit of salty. Anyway, I will try it again next time. emoticon The interesting thing is when you can try out some recipe with friends, it really fun!

Personal ThoughtJanuary 15, 2007 3:22 pm

This month the weather in SG like Dec 06, moody and seldom see the sunny day. Maybe due to the weather or maybe is another year, I just very lazy to move, to think. Life seems like pausing a while, everything is slow motion, is it because age grow? Thought change? Objective change? Settling down?

Starting I like to be alone and wish to have more time for myself, what am I thinking? I also don’t know, just something inside my mind, digging and disturbing. I wish I can know what that is. The body engine is slowing down, trying to pump in the petrol, but, still can’t move, hrmm…. maybe need sometime to adjust, what i want to adjust? I also don’t know. Pray for it, and hope something getting better, maybe…

[My new hairstyle. Taken from toilet, suggestion from Karyn Lim, she always has a funny idea. hahaha… ]

In the New Year 2007, finally I decided to perm my hair, do you think is nice? Some colleagues think is quite good, fresh and new hairstyle. This is my 1st week in my work after the 1 ½ months leaves. Everything seems to me very lazy and blur.   A lot of thing inside the work is still in progress to settle down and trying to request something that is interesting to learn or some other job scope.

After wedding, we start to have more time to spend in Singapore, and we also starting to seek for our new house in Singapore. After my friend, Hoe Loon, introduce, I met up a new music friend, Julie Tan, and now also my piano teacher in Singapore. Her teaching technique is fantastic. So, my new year has also started my music life again, perhaps I can involve more music activity soon and later. I believe it might be quite interesting, just trying to take one step by the time, now I trying to stable my schedule.

Exercise, ya! One of my resolutions is HEALHTY. I starting to on good and healthy diet, and definitely exercise is another important thing that can lead me to the healthy life style. We will start my yoga class next month in Pure Yoga, hopefully we can really workout more this year.

This month everything still very messy to me, anyway, hopefully thing can workout and stable down slowly.

p/s: The photo i took yesterday not really nice, hrmm… first time trying, let me ty to take another photo tonight. :D

After reading Melissa’s blog, I craving with the “Tao Yew Bak”, so, yesterday I made this dish for my dinner. Basri never try this dish before, emoticonso, he was excited to try it out. Yesterday afternoon I starting to marinate the pork meat with the entire ingredient that recommended in Melissa’s blog, but, additional I have added the sesame oil also.

This is really simple dish to prepare, seriously, and it’s so delicious!!!! Basri love it a lot. YUMMY…YUMMY…  emoticon

[Copy from Melissa’s blog]
All you need for the marinate is dark soy sauce, light soy sauce, 1 teaspoon brown sugar, 1 small star anise, some white peppercorns and 1 small cinnamon stick. Sautee 3/4 garlic bulb with a little oil, add the pork marinate and stir fry till fragrant. Then, add water just enough to cover the pork. Add hard boiled eggs and leave to simmer on low fire for an hour.

Due to I don’t have the cinnamon stick and star anise, so, I follow Rachel’s suggestion, use the Chinese 5 spice powder, and add in some sesame oil emoticonif you free, you should try this during the weekend.
