I think need to thanks to the guest visit, so I can visit more places that I seldom go and never think to visit it. :D After afternoon VIVOCITY and ORCHARD road, we met Pek Fui and her mother at Night safari entrance. The night safari is so crowded, and most of the races are INDIAN!!! I’m feeling I’m at India. **GOSH** Night safari is the world’s first wildlife park built for visits at night, the Night Safari is not like any ordinary zoo illuminated by the night or a modern version of nocturnal houses found in many zoos around the globe.

The ticket price is $20 without the tram, we decided to take the walking trail, there have 3 Walking Trails, and there is Fishing Cat, Forest Giants & Leopard Trail (total walkway: 2.8km). We started watching the animal show, then, follow the walking trail from 8:30pm, and only managed to finish the 3 trails at 10:15pm. We used up all our energy, and when we back, we are so tired! Hahaha… but, trust me, it fun, and you will enjoy a lot if you enjoy the jungle tracking and love to see the animal! :D

Yesterday afternoon, me, Basri, Basri’s nephew, and my sister-in-law went to VivoCity at Harbor front. This shopping center is huge and due to these few days a lot of tourist visited Singapore, the shopping center is full of crowd.

VivoCity will be the centerpiece of the entire Singapore Harbor Front Precinct. This shopping center will be the largest retail and lifestyle destination in Singapore. Designed by renowned Japanese architect, Toyo Ito, VivoCity’s unique design incorporates breathtaking open spaces for waterfront alfresco dining and the staging of world-class events and performances in a 1000-seat amphitheatre.

This shopping center is just surrounding by SENTOSA, and the coming casino. I believe, when both mega-casinos will open their doors in 2010, they will employ 35,000 people and will attract roughly 20 percent of all legal casino revenues in Asia. This could lift Singapore’s economic growth by another half of a percentage point. Realtors for retail and office space are already cheering.

When you stand outside the shopping center, you are view the SENTOSA, cruise, casino, park etc. It is a good idea to have such center that centralizes everything. Inside the cinema also have the largest and good cinema. It’s worth to visit if you are a tourist.

[Basri’s nephew]                   [Alison’s friend, Pek Fui]

Due to long weekend

Indonesia – Holiday for 1 week (Hari Raya)

Malaysia – Holiday for 5 days (Hari Deepavali & Hari Raya)

My friend, Pek Fui, bringing her mother came to Singapore to spend the holiday, and also Basri’s nephew also visit from Indonesia. These few days my house packed with all the people visiting, although crowded, but, the atmosphere is good and happy.

Sometime I feel happy and exciting when people visit us at Singapore, so, the house will fill up with many smile and noise. :D It fun to have this type of sharing, although we are not very good to bring our guest around and try out the good food, due to me and Basri also not really go out frequently while staying in Singapore. **pai-sei**

Event 11:56 am

This holiday weekend is quite busy and enjoyable weekend I have spent. Last Saturday (21st Oct) was Deepavali day, since I’m was not back to Malaysia. I planned a piano class with my piano teacher, Paul Grosse, in the Saturday afternoon. We sharing the thought of the music knowledge, and plan which exam board I should go for, the session were great! And I found out some technique is not really correct that I was used previously, so, sometime is hard for me to correct it after 20 years of practicing. :) Actually my next step I want to achieve is to learn how to compose song. Sometime is good to do something that I like, to upgrade myself and feel the inspiration! That is very hard when I want to drag myself from my house, SIMEI to my teacher’s house, ANG MO KIO, it quite far distance actually, especially taking the train, but, it feels good when the achievement hit!

After the music course, I was meeting Basri, Basri’s nephew and my father-in-law. I walked around the city hall shopping center while waiting them,  the shopping center was very crowded, I think is because the long weekend, a lot of tourist came over to Singapore to spend their holiday.

At night was Basri’s friend wedding. (James & Germaine) I met them once in my ROM wedding ceremony. The wedding dinner is very nearby our house, at Changi Expo. The wedding dinner atmosphere was good; very relax music, and feeling comfortable. The couples of course are sweet and fantastic! :D I met some of Basri’s ex-colleagues, they are friendly and nice to chit-chat, and they are funny too! ~ Alison

hahaha… I think this is the subject I feel so truth that happened in Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia, and the season that defined by Eng Hui’s blog sound so funny! I like this idea, 4 seasons in UK, and 2 seasons in Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. At first when I glance at the subject, I so surprised that Malaysia had 2 seasons that I don’t know??!! After I read it, I laugh at it, which reflected my feeling now.

If not mistaken, I think there has been 1 week no rain in Singapore, the haze sometime hit above 110 PSI. L My eye sore, and feel hectic if stay outside longer time, it really bad to health. Hahaha…. to make yourself to feel better, maybe you can imagine that you are at UK in the winter time, can’t see the object clearer, like a lot of midst (haze), so, you won’t feel so frustrated with the environment.

The other statement I excerpt from Eng Hui’s blog is very funny, due to I seldom read newspaper, maybe I missed this news.
“These are the comments from Indonesia Ministers in response to memorandum submitted by Malaysian to Indonesia embassy.
‘If you can guarantee the wind will not blow (in this direction), then I can guarantee it (haze) will not happen again.” […]’ “When we export oxygen, you don’t say anything; when we export haze, you complain.”

Is this childish?! Hahhaa…. I think is really childish response that I saw recently. If end of the year I need to compile the funniest thing happened in 2006, I think this should be under the top 10 list. :D

Today one of my colleagues forwarded me this article that she read from the newspaper. This article is quite interesting, and I found out recently this is a trend. Educated women above 30 prefer to marry younger men even though they are financially unsound and are less educated, a University Malaya associate professor revealed in her working paper. This was happening because women of this age found it hard to find men of the same education level, economic status or age. Most that fit this criterion were already married anyway. According to the working paper about 13% of women above the age of 30 and well educated in this country were still not married.Based on the ratio breakdown, about 29% were Chinese followed by Indians (26%) and Malays (16%).

I think recently this trend is quite common in this society, especially in KOREA, JAPAN country. Nowadays I found out Singapore and Malaysia also quite common, quite some number of friends like to attach with young guy, I think the good thing to attach with young guy is maybe because of their cheerful smile and full of energy life style. Life is short, and I think girl nowadays will do whatever they like and whatever they want to try. Cheers to the modern girl who freedom from the traditional mindset, and choose what they want to live with! - Alison

Last weekend Lee Szee invited to watch the ballet concert, I never try this type of concert, so, I decided to join her. This show is ballet dance show. The concert name is “Red Giselle Eifman Ballet of St Petersburg”.

Yesterday night (Thursday, 12th Oct) was the concert, I reached Esplanade around 7:15pm, after the testing at client site, Lee Szee still rushing to Esplanade from her working place, at first thinking to have dinner before the concert, but, due to her workload, hahhaa…. Don’t think we can make it! :D

While waiting Lee Szee, I walked around the Esplanade, the place that hold all the art and concert in Singapore, the outlook of this building is like a “DURIAN”. Inside this building, you will see a lot of art decoration every month, or some free program at the center. I took this photo that created and performed by the art student.

When Lee Szee reached, is around 7:45pm, we quickly went into the theater hall, and very exciting to watch this show! OK! the first impression when the concert started, I was amazed! The dancers’ body shape is very good and muscular, very SKINNY! Or I should say TOO SKINNY! Gosh! I think they can’t eat much everyday. I’m appreciate I can eat whatever I want, and no need to maintain this type of skinny shape. :D The main actor is very good dancer. This ballet is not the classic ballet, at first Lee Szee thought it was a classic ballet, like the SWAN LAKE ballet. This show is more to the modern ballet, is another experience for us, we did enjoy it. This is 20 century ballet style, their body language is very good! Fantastic! But, some part I was a bit lost. Hahhaa… and sometime I was not really know how to appreciate it. Opppsss!!!

The story is very sad, traces the dramatic rise and fall of a gifted but doomed ballerina who is driven to madness by her art, loves and ghosts of her past. It is based on the life of Russian ballerina Olga Spessivtseva (1895-1991), known for her unforgettable portrayal of the title role in the ballet Giselle, and whose life seems to have mirrored the heroine’s tragic spiral into madness.

I saw a lot of foreigners came to watch this type of show, I think not many Asian know how to appreciate it?! but, surprisingly, I saw a lot of youngster attended the show, maybe they are learning ballet. J

When the show ended, a lot of people stand up and clapped the hand. I can see they are really appreciated the dancers’ passion and outstanding performance. Me and Lee Szee also enjoyed the night with this new experience, it was a amazing and different show we have watched previously! - Alison
